Anyways here's some pictures from the festivities as Digga and myself saw it. Video highlights to follow real soon.

All the politics. And how all you need is a handful of dough no matter how fu*kin garbage you are! How image and look overrules music quality and geniune swag. How real hip-hop can't get no pla in the hood, and real gangsta music can't get nowhere a hip-hop head's tape deck... Music first damn it!

Why do you LOVE hip hop?:
Besides God, it's the only thing that hasn't changed in my life. "From the womb to the tomb" type shi*. I just don't make it, I embrace it for all it worth; good and bad. Straight up.

Up next week Rae Rosero ("This Is Why I'm Hot" and "Chasin' You"). And also don't forget, bay area, this Saturday June 23rd, come chill with Rob Wonderful, Rae and the rest of BMB at our free show / listening party. Strictly for the grown and ugly, yessir.

I Heart Covers...

I can't express enough how great it is when someone does a cover song. Especially when the artists looks like he/she has no business performing that song. In fact, the more oddball, the better. Here's some of my favorites which I consider gems...

Dynamite Hack - Boyz n da Hood (by N.W.A)

Nina Gordon - Straight Outta Compton (by N.W.A)

Matt Weddle - Hey Ya (by Andre 3000)

Jamie Cullum - Frontin' (by Pharrell)

The Higher - Nice & Slow (by Usher)

Ok, maybe that last one was garbage (no offense to The Higher), but it was good for laughs. The rapping part was the icing on the cake...

Some other good covers...

- Causeway - Dance Tonight (by Lucy Pearl) (If someone can find this on mp3, message me @ myspace.com/neckbreak

- Me First & The Gimme Gimme's - End of the Road (by Boyz II Men)

there's a shitload more, but I don't want to take up too much blog space. Cot damn it's hot right now...

Rock, Paper, Beatdown...

First of all, shout out to all the folks that came through to another day of Beautiful Music, Balllllllin'!! My legs feel like they're gonna break any minute. And thanks Just, for bringing the "Union City Dream Team." It's bad enough that I can't make a shot. Now I gotta get swatted, before I get a chance to even see my shots miss...

Now I know how frustrated this guy feels...

If only they added the "Whoop that trick!" song in the background from Hustle & Flow. That would've been money...

Don't forget, BMB show on Saturday, June 23rd. Free for all ages. Helio Palo Alto. Come through and show some love...

Skywalker-Shi*.

So we've been throwing around a few ideas on how to introduce the Skywalkers at our Listening Party... And this is still a work in progress; but imagine a lot louder, a little faster, maybe some smoke and strobe lights, with "Chasing You" playing in the background...

We're kidding. We'd never use strobe lights at our show.

"Eat His Children, Praise Allah!"

Before I slide out to the movies and watch Ocean's 13, I thought it'd be a good time to do a tribute to "Iron" Mike Tyson a.k.a. "The Baddest Man on the Planet." But i'm not here to celebrate his career or his vicious knockouts. I'm here to celebrate the man with the illest quotables, not named Shaq or N.O.R.E...

peep the video...
